Banquet

Can you all believe it is almost time for our end of year banquet?!?!

The banquet will be held on Thursday, May 13, at Kobe restaurant in South Ogden, 5:30pm. Cheerleaders banquet cost and all but $5 per parent is being covered by past fundraising. Please have all money with names of those attending to Lauren Beckett by Friday, May 7. Each cheerleader is able to bring up to two parents/guardians with her/him.

Junior Cheerleaders assignments for the banquet are as follows:
Jordynn $10-$12 worth of yellow helium filled balloons
Marissa $10-$12 worth of blue helium filled balloons
Lauren place cards/candy (up to $12 total cost)
Sami 7 gift bags/ribbon
Zack/Brinlee 7 mp
Kaitlan/Natalie/Mikell $10-$12 worth of candy each (for Sr. gift)
Janelle Blue/gold/white paper plates (dessert size) napkins, forks #75 each
Hayley/Britney 2 cases of bottled water each

Jr. cheerleaders please arrive at Kobe at 4:45 on the evening of the banquet to get ready!

The cheerleaders were given March and April Calendars in class Friday. Please attend all activities assigned to.
There are only a few weeks left in school, try to keep the motivation going! If there have been missed incentives, now is the time to get them done!

Cheer Fest Competition

*We should leave by 10am to get there in time; never can be sure about traffic. This is our last competition of the year. It would be so great to take first and go out with a bang! If you haven't seen our routine yet, you should plan to attend; it's pretty impressive. The team has worked so hard to change and perfect new stunts and formations.

WSU competition

I just received an updated schedule for Sat. The whole team has to register at 7:30am. The coach and a representative have to attend the 8am check-in meeting where warm-up times will be assigned. We are the first team in our division and are slotted to compete at 11:09am. The last team of the day will compete at 12:30pm, a break for tabulations then awards. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for high school students will shool ID's, $4 for children 4-12, under 4 are free.

Scheduling Changes

Please note that we will not be competing on Dec. 5. Our first competition will be on Dec. 12
We will be practicing until 4pm on Tues. Nov. 24, no practice on Wed. Nov. 25. Sat. practice on Nov. 28 is tentative. If we feel we are prepared enough by the end of practice on the 24th we will not have practice on the 28th. Thanks for all of your hard work!

It's competition planning time! The cheerleaders voted in class yesterday (11/4) on 6 competition options. Here are the majority results:

Team-Building

To start 2nd term off right, we're doing a team-building activity. All members of each stunt group will take turns offering incentives and thanks you's to each other; small tokens of appreciation and encouragement. You can get creative and personalize these :) Some members who switch out have been linked to one specific stunt group to avoid confusion.

Demerits

There are 4 ways a cheerleader gets demerits and 4 ways to earn merits.
Demerits: Missed practice/performance/event= 1.5
Late for any cheer event = 1
Wrong clothing to practice= .5
Behavior (at Hillary's discretion)= .5
Merits: On time 5 times in a row to cheer events= 1
Directing a team building event during class time pre approved by Hillary= 1
Vacuum mats= 1
Attending unassigned school sporting event pre approved by Hillary= 1

Friday's Game at Dixie

All cheerleaders are required to ride the bus to St. George. They can be released to their own parent AFTER the game by having parent and cheerleader check in with Hillary. Cheerleaders WILL NOT be released to another parent per district policy.
Cheerleaders must check in at BHS no later than 6:15 am on Fri. morning. Cheerleaders may bring blanket, pillow, snacks and MUST bring cheer bag with all necessary cheer items. Uniform TBA. Please wear comfortable but school appropriate clothing for the bus ride.
The bus is scheduled to arrive back at BHS between 11pm and Midnight Friday.

We hope you all have a fun, SAFE, Halloween!!! Congrats on a great game last night! Your cheering was AWESOME, the football was AWESOME, Dixie, Here We Come! As soon as we have details on traveling to Dixie, etc. we will let you know.

ATTN CHEERLEADERS

Hey cheerleaders, there will NOT be a practice this Wed. night because Taylan will be out of town. This would be a great time for those of you who are doing yellow books to get a route done. Let me (Monique) know if you plan to do a route that evening so I can make sure I have the books ready for you.

Extra Practices/Constitution

There will be extra practices from now through competition season. Our first competition is on Dec. 5 which is the first Sat. after we return to school from the Thanksgiving break. Because of when this falls we will be having extra practices over the break. We have made the extra practices as early in the break as possible and as late in the break as possible to allow for the most amount of time off. Our first practice during the break will be on Wed. Nov. 25 from 8-11am at Taylan's gym. Our second practice will be during the break on Sat. Nov. 28 from 7-10pm also at Taylan's gym.
A couple of weeks ago the cheerleaders met and went over the constitution. Each cheerleader was given a copy of the constitution (some left without taking theirs, but they were given one). In the constitution it states that if a cheerleader misses any of the 4 practices immediately prior to a performance or game they will not be able to cheer in that event. This includes competition. This means a cheerleader CAN NOT miss any practices from Nov. 28-Dec. 5 in order to compete in our first competition. PLEASE CONTACT HILLARY IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WILL BE MISSING ANY OF THESE PRACTICES!

Christmas Party

OK, we already have a date for our 2009 Christmas party, so mark your calendars now! It will be held on Saturday Dec. 12 at 9:00am at the Stromberg home. It will be a breakfast, wear your pajamas, lots of games and food! We will be drawing names for a gift exchange. The $ limit on the gift is $20. Each cheerleader will fill out a Christmas wish list for their gift giver to choose from!
